# Channel activity

> Compare recorded SMS, MMS and RCS delivery attempts in the Hub.

Open **Menu → Channels** to see messaging activity below the channel setup cards. Each channel with recorded activity gets a vertical bar. Channels without activity in the selected environment stay hidden.

## Choose an environment

The chart opens on **Live messages**. Choose **Test simulations** to see simulated attempts separately. Test results do not establish delivery to a phone.

The period is **All retained history**. Counts cover the delivery attempts retained by Smerio, rather than a calendar reporting period. Reload the page to update the snapshot.

## Read the bars

Each bar is the total number of delivery attempts for that channel. Every attempt occupies one segment according to its latest recorded status:

* **Read** is an RCS read confirmation.
* **Delivered** is a delivery confirmation, excluding RCS attempts already counted as Read.
* **Awaiting receipt** means the attempt is recorded as sent without a confirmed delivery or read result.
* **Pending** includes queued attempts and submissions in progress.
* **Failed** includes rejected, expired or unavailable attempts.
* **Cancelled** means the attempt was cancelled.
* **Unconfirmed** means its outcome is uncertain or unrecognized.

Only statuses present in the selected data appear in the legend. SMS and MMS do not show read metrics. An absent read receipt does not mean the recipient has not read a message. An absent delivery receipt does not establish failure.

Select **View exact counts** for the table. Hover over a bar or focus it with the keyboard for a description.

## What the totals mean

Totals count attempts, not unique recipients, billable SMS segments or unique messages. A [fallback plan](https://smerio.com/docs/messaging/channel-plans.md) can contribute to more than one channel. Legacy messages without delivery-attempt records are not included. The chart does not claim that every message in an external provider account is represented.

If the selected environment has no activity, the page explains that active channels will appear when attempts are recorded. If activity cannot load, it shows an unavailable message instead of zero.
